Summer in Medulin, made for families

There's a reason families come back to Medulin year after year: real sand. At Bijeca, small children simply walk into the shallow, warm water – no rocks, no steps, no worries. And when the beach day is over, it's not a hotel room waiting for you, but a home.

The beaches

Sand at Bijeca, swims at Mukalba

Bijeca is Medulin's famous sandy beach: about a kilometre of fine sand with a very gentle slope into the sea, loved by families with small children (and by grandparents). In high season a floating aquapark bobs just offshore. From Villa Livi it's about five minutes by car, or a lovely walk along the water.

For your daily swim, Mukalba Beach is just 400 metres from the house, close enough for a dip before breakfast. In both directions, the coast continues with more coves and bathing spots.

Days out

Beyond the beach towel

When the family wants more than sand:

Cape Kamenjak

A wild cape of cliffs, coves and dinosaur footprints at Istria's southern tip – swim spots and gravel bike trails, about 15 minutes by car.

Pula Arena

One of the world's best-preserved Roman amphitheatres, 9 km away. Summer brings concerts and gladiator nights.

Medulin harbour

Excursion boats leave from the promenade – island hops, glass-bottom boats and sunset cruises on the bay.

Brijuni National Park

An archipelago of islands, safari park and Roman villas, reached by boat from Fažana.

The promenade

Cafés, ice cream and playgrounds line the seafront walk into the village – an easy evening ritual with kids.

Back at the house

An apartment beats a hotel room

After the beach, the kids can shower and nap in their own room while lunch comes together in your own kitchen. In the evening, dinner moves out to the covered terrace as the bay turns orange. The car is parked for free at the door, the beach bag dries on the balcony, and nobody has to plan around hotel meal times.
